Sayoni Batabyal. Artist and Senior Scientist
Sayoni Batabyal is an Indian born artist based in London. Being immersed in two distinct cultures has significantly influenced her life and creative expression. Her passion lies in depicting human expressions and profound, often unspoken, emotions through her contemporary style of figurative expressionism.
Her body of work is rooted on the premise that the universe is a balance of energy that surrounds and eventually consumes us. She believes that we are born from the smallest existing particle or cell and eventually return to it. This theme is evident in her artworks in the form of spirals surrounding the subject and complex layers invoking intense feelings.
The mesh of textures and depth incorporated makes her work both unique and deeply personal. She works with acrylic and mixed media, also using other techniques such as Impasto to create her contemporary compositions.
Beyond her artistic pursuits, Sayoni is a senior scientist working on developing formulations for the healthcare industry for over a decade. Her scientific background drives her to question the unknown and delve into deeper human philosophies, psyche, and emotions. This curiosity is reflected in her art, which focuses on the truth of the soul and the undefined noises that surround us. By exploring the chaos of these noises, she strives to uncover her inner self which constantly seeks harmony with the soul.
Sayoni has had the opportunity to showcase her artworks in numerous reputed art exhibitions and galleries across the UK, Australia, Europe and India.
